Not only is the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and Urban Development Dr Ignatius Chombo fighting to keep his wife Marian Chombo from sharing the above properties and vehicles in a divorce settlement, he is also embroiled in a bitter power struggle with fellow ZANU PF members including Mr Dydimus Mutasa, George Charamaba and Patrick Chinamasa who were instrumental in the leaking of the above asserts to the ZANU PF paper The Herald. To many this has come as a surprise that The Herald has decided to publish such a story, ZANU PF officials are normally a “no go” when it comes to their personal affairs. This only proves that someone higher up in ZANU PF has decided to use the newspaper as weapon against Dr Chombo, desperate times call for desperate measures. According to a popular newsite Dr Chombo’s legal team have denied that he owns 90% of the asserts listed above and are threatening to sue The Herald for defamation but Chombo’s people have been forward they threatened the editor not to get involved with the Party’s infighting. At this rate ZANU PF does need the MDC to bring them down, from where I stand I think they are capable of doing it themselves, the factions, the power struggle etc.
So not only has his wealth got tongues wagging in Zimbabwe it has also set-off members of the War Veterans associations and some top ZANU PF members. MDC has already called for an enquiry into how Dr Chombo has amassed so much wealth on a government Minister’s salary. Dr Chombo can argue that he is an entrepreneurial genius when it comes to business and dealing in Property but we all know the truth, these guys did not get into politics to make Zimbabwe a better place to live. The above asserts are only a fraction of what this man owns and it comes as no surprise as this is more wide spread than we are meant to believe. This is just a tip of the iceberg and this man is no stranger to corruption accusations. These guys are in it for the money and Chombo is not the only culprit. Will this be brought before the Anti-Corruption Commission don’t hold your breath, why because we all know Dr Chombo will not go down alone, besides I don’t think the Anti-Corruption Commission has enough resources to deal with the corruption and mismanagement by ZANU PF.
