Prime Minister Tsvangirai

I don’t know what planet the Prime Minister lives on, I have no idea why he has only decided to come to his senses now October 2010, I guess 2 years is a long time to mull over the relationship. Mugabe, ZANU PF and their supporters have have been at it for a very long time the corruption and violence continues. Teaching old dogs new tricks is a no no and we have seen it with the ZANU PF there was no way they were going to honour the GPA and if the PM ever thought they were going to be equal partners they were disillusioned. ZANU PF will hold on to power no matter the out come of the forthcoming elections, if he is in doubt he should give Mr D. Mutasa a call who recently said that the MDC will never rule Zimbabwe.

For over two years now Tsvangirai has been portraying Mugabe as nice guy easy to deal with and such a joy to work with and together they were going to save the world. I have no idea what spell the PM was under. When the GPA was signed we all knew this was going to be a bumpy ride for the MDC and Tsvangirai. Mugabe only agreed to the GPA because he was going to use the MDC as a crutch and indeed he did. He had the MDC flying around the world begging for aid and cleaning up the mess he had created back home. It has taken this long for PM to realise that Mugabe is not a man of his word, he promised all will be transparent and they will work together but we find that he still appoints friends and family to high positions in the Government with the consent of the PM. The PM is hardly involved in government matters or decision making. For over 2 years Tsvangirai has been playing Mr Nice Guy I dont know if he was trying to please Robert but this was a wrong move. ZANU are ruthless and desperate they are not going to play by the rules, you have to fight fire with fire. They bullied their way back into power after losing the rigged elections and you think they are not going to put up any resistance.

Tsvangirai claims he has had enough of the appointments of Ambassadors and governors without his say, the way ZANU carry on like they are not in a coalition, what is he going to do about it? ….write another letter to Jacob Zuma or run off to SADC who are now clearly supporting Mugabe’s campaign. The PM has been incensed by the Roy Bennett issue and Mugabe knows this, he is holding out as this is his personal vendetta against Mr Bennett. Analysts have often viewed the MDC as passengers on a bus with no idea of their destination and having no say how the ride ends…….they cannot be far from the truth.

The PM needs to realise that the GPA is just a front for ZANU to carry on, they do not care about what plans the MDC have or what they have to say. As usual Jonathan Moyo has something “smart” to say on the PM recent comments he recently come out and said that the coalition have delivered and all is okay describing the PM and his party as disgruntled employees who where after government jobs but did not get them. How the PM can stand aside while this abuse carries on is just beyond me.

Mugabe and Tsvangirai

sceptical of this union…why, because as Zimbabweans we are well versed in how Mugabe operates and from the onset we knew this was not going to be a 50/50 relationship. Many argue that Tsvangirai rushed into a deal to get into power as this might have been his only chance and now that he is there he is enjoying it at all costs. Today the MDC is on the receiving end, are they spectators or are they participants in this “coalition” government. Ever heard of those violent domestic relationships where mummy is verbally and physically abused by the alcoholic father, well this is one them, staged on the political arena. Daddy comes home drunk as skunk beats mummy till she is black and blue but she smiles puts on a brave face and says everything is fine. As I tap away somewhere in Zimbabwe there are MDC supporters being victimsed by the youth militia for political views. They say if you stay because of the kids it never works out……enough of the agony aunt. Every month the MDC produces a newsletter, The Changing Times listing all the perpetrators hounding them and all the injustices they face , who does anything about this, no one the PM just puts on a brave face and smiles. It makes my stomach churn when the Tsvangirai sits there and smiles and chuckles holding Mugabe’s hand like all is well while his people are suffer up and down the country.

Mugabe has got the MDC where wanted them, close to him, now the people can’t even tell the difference between the two, the MDC is now an extension of Zanu PF. Now Mugabe has got them eating out of the palm of his hand, calling for the removal of the shopping sanctions on his behalf, last year he had them running around the world saying what good guy he really is and very easy to deal with. For Mugabe its business as usual with or without the blessing of his concubines. Appointments of his close aides are made without the consent of the Prime Minister or his Deputy. He promised Bennet would appointed as soon as he was exonerated, was he aquitted …Yes, is he going to be appointed….eeerh NO that’s Zanu PF for you. It is common knowledge that Mugabe was never going to implement the GNU, the GPA never existed, how naive of the MDC to think that they were going to be equal partners.

Mugabe and ZANU PF are the only winners in the union, having lost the elections clearly and conclusively, they decided to bully their way back into power this time with the two MDC factions as crutches enabling them to go a little further in the destructuion and looting of national treasures. ZANU PF knows this is the last run so they are working over time, while the sitting ducks (MDC) just watch, their fighting spirit is a thing of the past. Silenced by computers , cars and perks they let Mugabe and ZANU PF get on with what they do best. While ZANU loots MDC pursues the so-called outstanding issues they know very well that Mugabe is not going to let them have their way. They blame the stagnation of the GNU on these outstanding issues, its time to change the record and take Mugabe head-on, you cannot be spectators of your own demise. Right now Mugabe holds the cards and he is going to surprise you, its time to wake up, talks will go on and on, you have had numerous talks that have amounted to nothing.

Remember these words……….Mugabe talks trash about the Presidency

How can Tsvangirai call the exiles ignorant and out of touch? He forgets these people are aware of everything going in Zimbabwe, he is not the only one delivering current affairs on Zimbabwe, and these exiles still have family back in Zimbabwe and are aware of the good and bad happening in the country. Most Zimbabweans living abroad are there because of threats made against them or their families by the Mugabe regime and just because Tsvangirai is now “Prime Minister” does not mean these people are guaranteed safety. Whom and when did he discuss the safe return of these people.

Those in the Diaspora where behind Mr Tsvangirai all the way and helped him get to the position he is in today as they wanted change but now most feel like he is sleeping with the enemy. After all these years of opposition people are angered by the cosiness of the Mugabe/Tsvangirai relationship and do not want the Prime minister stringing them along with false hope and promises. The Zimbabwean people do not trust the current President, these people want MUGABE TO GO, they want a Zimbabwe without any of the Mugabe elements and Mr Tsvangirai should understand that. Mr Tsvangirai might be the one flying all over the world but Zimbabwe is still under Mugabe control. Once Mugabe is out of Power and his regime gone Mr Tsvangirai will see all these Zimbabweans from all over the world flooding back into the country.

The Zimbabwean Prime Minister is not the first politician to be heckled and jeered I am sure he is aware that this is one of the occupational hazards. Tsvangirai experienced freedom of expression in its rawest forms. Those who jeered him have been critised and called all sorts in the last couple of days. The truth is these people have tasted true democracy and freedom of speech, they also now know what its like to live in society with equal opportunities. They will no longer have anyone talk to them like they are little kids. The ignorant will call it western influence but this is just plain old basic freedom of expression.

The Prime minister’s arrogance did not help the situation and I’m sure he will not be repeating that any time soon. The exiles behaved in a way many Zimbabweans living in Zimbabwe would like to, but they know too well what will happen to them if they behaved in such a way torward Mugabe or any of his people. When was the last time Mugabe was jeered or heckled?….um…um….um….not a lot…um…um..mum…um Its not because people don’t want to its because “political freedom of expression” dont exist in Zimbabwe. This is all new to the PM now hopefully he will take those in the dispora seriously and stop treating them like a 5th Grade scince group (Listen to me……..um…um.um…Let me tell you…..um…um).

Is Robert Mugabe a man to be trusted? Prime Minister Tsvangirai will soon find out.

Most Zimbabweans are aware of how Robert Mugabe operates, since the independance of Zimbabwe in 1980 we have seen how he deals with the opposition. This man dreamt of a One Party State that he had control over, he would rule this country until his death more like a Life President and nothing would come between him and his rulership.

Movement of Democratic Chnage

With his One Party State in mind we have seen how he has dealt with his opponents, recently we have seen ZANU PF merge with Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement of Democratic Change. Before the merge MDC supporters and ordinary Zimbabweans suffered at the hands of ZANU PF zealots, the situation within Zimbabwe was now beyond repair with the whole system collapsing from Health, the Economy, Education and the Political chaos carried on, for a moment it looked like no one could salvage the situation, Mugabe had lost control. With sanctions imposed and mounting pressures from both African and the International community Mugabe was backed into a corner and succumbed to “joining” forces with the enemy after vowing on numerous occassions that he will never work with those he believed to be agents of the West and were hard at work to sell-off the country. His position was weakened and he decided to re-establish himself as the country’s premier this time aided by the MDC, he could not take anymore shots and as the MDC was closing in seeing himself and his party out of the picture was a no-no.

To hold onto power Mugabe employed tactics he had used earlier on in his rulership (If you cant beat them join them or get them to join you) only this time without the the 5th Brigade and the Gukurahundi atrocities(Or maybe with). In the 1980s the Zimbabwe African Peoples Union (PF ZAPU) led by Joshua Nkomo (who once fled to Britain fearing for his life) was Zimbabwe’s major opposition political party they proved to be a force to be wreckoned with and were upsetting Mugabe ‘s One Party State dream. The atrocities and the violence could not carry on and in December of 1987 ZANU swallowed up PF ZAPU in the Unity Accord Agreement “uniting” the two parties with Joshua Nkomo as one of the two Vice Presidents and Mugabe as the First Secretary and President of ZANU PF bringing Zimbabwe under one Political Party, the opposition was gone over night.

With the recent union we see history repeating itself again Mugabe has welcomed MDC just like he did PF ZAPU appointing their leaders as Ministers and giving some power and some of the highest seats in office.

When PF ZAPU was swallowed up by ZANU did we see any of their policies come through, does anyone know what Joshua Nkomo wanted for his people and supporters and did they get it? Will MDC go down the same route or will they be the dominant force in this union, will their influence shine through or are they only there to help Bob clean up the mess he has caused in recent years?

Zimbabwe African Peoples Union (ZAPU)

Late last year we saw the revival of the PF ZAPU, most of the senior leaders who in the late 1980s joined Mugabe have now abandoned him and ZANU callinign for the withdrawal of the 1987 Unity Accord and disolving the Alliance. Former Home Affairs Minister Dumiso Dabengwa was elected interim leader and he chairs the Interim National Executive Committee, with branches across the country PF ZAPU is back with party structures operating under the authority of the Constitution of ZAPU.

The PF ZAPU break-away claimed, among other reasons, Mugabe was an unrepentant dictator, who had frustrated all efforts by party reformists to seek leadership renewal within Zanu-PF. Some members have heavily criticised the late Leader Joshua Nkomo of allowing Mugabe to crush them by incorporating them into ZANU. The WEST obssesed President attacked the break-away faction calling them ”willing tools of the West”, what else was he going to call them….
